Glamorous Halloween Mermaid Makeup Tutorial

Updated: Oct 10

Spooky season is fast approaching! Not fast enough, if you ask me. You know I love me some Halloween!

Halloween is the best day ever because you get to dress up as whatever you want (Not like I don't already do that lol). For many, Halloween is their only chance to dive into their deepest mermaid desires.

If you're looking for a Halloween mermaid makeup tutorial, you've found it! I spent five years as a professional mermaid perfecting my look.

I've found my mersona through much trial and error. My favorite mermaid look includes hues of blue and purple with lots of sparkle!

Allow me to share with you my mermaid makeup tips. Be shore to watch my video with the full tutorial. It's a fast 6 minute video that shows you the makeup look quickly so you don't have to spend a lot of time learning.

After completing my glamorous mermaid makeup look, I ventured to the creek with a homemade tail (it has pockets) to take some mermaid photos. Thanks Mom for being my mer-tographer!

Mermaid makeup product recommendations

Here are some of the products you will need to complete this mermaid Halloween makeup look.

mermaid makeup mermaid scale stencils from amazon

A mermaid makeup look isn't complete until you add some pretty scales to your face. This kit comes with multiple different sizes of mermaid scale stencils along with glitter, and some makeup tools.

For $10 you can really make your mermaid look POP! You'll feel so magical, I promise.

mermaid makeup face gems from amazon for mermaid halloween costume

As I said, the perfect mermaid makeup look isn't complete without sparkles. I've always loved using face gems to bring more bling to my mermaid makeup look. They give you an out-of-this-world beauty that is unmatched. (BTW how gorgeous is the girl in that pic! Obsessed.)

mermaid makeup gliltter

This is one of the kinds of product I used in my mermaid makeup tutorial video. It's like glitter, but much bigger, similar looking to mermaid scales. I added them next to my eyes and it was stunning. The ones I got were actually bought at my very first mermaid festival, the Key West Mermaid Festival.

I love this palette because it has all the pretty mermaid colors and is quite affordable. There is a pastel element to these and they seem somewhat shimmery.

purple lipstick from amazon for mermaid halloween makeup

Here is lipstick that is the same color as the one I used in my tutorial. I think it is very pretty, and the light purple color reminds me of frozen lips, which is kinda suitable for a mermaid because the ocean can be cold!

blue temporary hair color spray from amazon for mermaid halloween costume

Going along with my mermaid color palette, we have blue hair spray to upscale your mermaid hair. It's great for trying something new without fully committing. If you like having blue in your hair, you may even end up getting a full dye job. In my tutorial I liked the look of just having the ends of my hair colored. You can try that, or go for all your hair, but that might take a while to get right.

There you have you it! That is my Halloween mermaid makeup look with the right products to get it done. Have a magical Halloween!
