Reporting from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, this is Mermaid Liv, bringing you the latest happenings in the mermaid world.
From exciting upcoming events to mermaid controversies, I'll be sharing some mermaid news that you don't want to miss out on, so keep reading.
Renaissance fair season is here! Be prepared for live mermaids.
One magical staple of renaissance fairs is that they usually incorporate mermaids into their festivities. One group of mermaids who typically perform at Ren Fairs is the Circus Siren Pod.
They will be making a splash at the North Carolina Renaissance Festival in Huntersville, NC, during the weekends from September 30th to November 19th in 2025.
You can also catch them at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Fair in Manheim, PA, on weekends from August 19th to October 29th this season. However, there is talk online that they will not be attending this festival, but this claim is not substantiated. If you find it to be true that they will not be there, please let me know.
Check your local Ren Fair to see if they will have performing mermaids. If not, reach out to them and offer your own mermaid services, if you are a professional mermaid.
Florida Springs Splash
Join the Florida Springs Mermaids for an exciting mermaid event from November 7-9, 2025, at Ginnie Springs, Florida. This may be one of the last mermaid events of the year, with mermaiding season coming to a close as winter approaches.
There will be group swims, camping, classes and talks, amazing raffles, and more.
Mermaid statue controversy in Denmark
Recently, a new mermaid statue erected in Denmark has stirred up some waves, and not exactly good ones.
Residents and organizations are calling for the removal of a nude mermaid statue that they are labeling as p*rnographic. The 6 ton statue in Dragør Fort, Copenhagen is to be taken down after many have voiced their opinions of it, declaring it as promoting unrealistic body standards for women, and saying it depicts a man's erotic fantasy of women.

Pirates and Mermaids Festival world record

An incredible feat was accomplished in Oscoda, Michigan. A Guinness World Record was earned by 500 merpeople who gathered on a beach and sat in their tails for at least 5 minutes.
This Pirate and Mermaid event was meant to raise awareness for our oceans and lakes, but was also a fun mingling opportunity where they made mermaid history.
On August 1st, 2025, hundreds of merfolk met in this event coordinated by Oscoda Citizens for Clean Water. What a memorable experience. Or shall I say, mermorable experience!
New Finfun Shark tails

FinFun Mermaid now offers realistic mermaid tails that resemble sharks. These are their first tails modeled by boys. While mermaid tails are for people of all genders, they are typically modeled by girls, and marketed towards them.
These shark tails offer a more masculine look at a more affordable price than alternative shark tails, such as the ones by Mermaid Lucia and Mertailor.
