Let's share a laugh together! Who has some funny mermaid stories? Embarassing things and awkward moments, or whatever you feel like sharing. I'll go first. Have you ever had that experience at the beach where the waves get kinda difficult, throwing you around, and you end up with a face full of sand? They toss you back and forth and under and you can't quite get your bearings. Well that happened to me while in a mermaid tail. I already feel like people think I look silly when I'm mermaiding in public, but this just looked ridiculous. Anyone else ever feel a little self conscious about mermaiding in public? There's another thing I'd love to talk about.

I've been a pro mermaid for about 5 years now. Here are some tips I have. Feel free to add your own tips! 1. Be a strong swimmer. Know some tricks and work on breathhold. 2. Avoid knockoff tails. 3. Get started on Gigsalad.com (http://Gigsalad.com) 4. Have a marketing plan. 5. Have a mertender to assist you at gigs. 6. Have your own website. 7. Follow your instincts, if you get a gig request that makes you uncomfortable, don't accept it. 8. Have a mersona, with a backstory. Prepare some little stories to tell of your mermaid adventures. 9. Practice mermaid skills on land, such as posing, singing, public speaking, dances, and using props like bubble wands, juggling balls, ribbon wands, crystal balls, temporary tattoos, and glitter makeup. 10. Have fun with it! When you're a professional mermaid you get to have fun and be silly. Smile, sing songs, be friendly! Swim around and embrace the whimsy of it.

What did you guys think about it? I could rave about it, honestly. It was so magical and the music brought tears to my eyes. I almost cried a whole ocean during Part of your World. Idk why I get so emotional when I hear beautiful music. On that note, I will admit I was disappointed that there was no duet between Ariel and Eric. That would have been perfect! Anyway, let's hope they do a sequel.

You guys, I'm dying to go MerMagicCon or Syren Symposeum. It's been too long since I've been around other mers! I went to MMC last year, which was pretty fun. Unfortunately I pay rent now and I can't justify spending all the money on a trip right now. Raise your fin if you wanna go! I'd definitely love to do another roadtrip to one of those places. I love Virginia. What a lovely state!

This is your place to show off some mermaid art you've made! It could be a mermaid doodle, or a handmade mermaid tail! All mermaid art is appreciated. Here are some of my mermaid drawings!

Shello fishies! Here is a thread for getting to know one another. Share your mermaid name, your pronouns, any social media pages you want, and tell us about your mermaid journey. Feel free to share pictures. I'll go first! I'm Mermaid Liv, a landlocked mermaid in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. My pronouns are they/them. Insta: @the_real_mermaid_liv Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMWO_NfLYjB-pKEK8mop0Nw(https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMWO_NfLYjB-pKEK8mop0Nw) I started my mermaid journey when I was 17. It began with me making my own fabric tails and practicing swimming around for fun. My first ever monofin was a Finis Wave. I gained more experience in mermaiding when I spent 2 months in Grenada, where I did mermaid modeling for a community of artists. After that I brought my fins to Florida for the Key West Mermaid Festival. I had always dreamed of being a professional mermaid, and when I volunteered as a mermaid performer there, it felt like the dream became reality. Shortly after, I became a mermaid content creator, making Youtube videos and Instagram content. I also started this website to advertise myself as a professional mermaid. I've since done a number of gigs and have built a small following on Youtube. Now I'm not doing many gigs, but I love making videos and articles about mermaid topics, along with car camping and backpacking stuff. I'm always down for an adventure. My current goal is to get monetized on Youtube. Just need about 2400 watch hours til I make it. Woot woot!
